Mexico has some beautiful resorts.
It can almost make you forget how violent the cartel is in that country.
That is until bodies wash up on shore as a stark reminder that just beyond those gates lie some very evil people.
Sadly, tourists at an Acapulco resort faced that reality this week.
Tourists at the famed Playa Condesa discovered two dead bodies on Saturday afternoon.
They had clearly been tortured before being dumped.
One body was lying face up in the sand, the other body had a cement anchor on a hand and foot.
A third body was later discovered with gunshot wounds in the back of the neck.
That body was found at Icacos Beach.
After the gruesome discovery, the State Department said, “Crime and violence are widespread.
“Armed groups operate independently of the government in many areas of Guerrero.
“Members of these groups frequently maintain roadblocks and may use violence towards travelers.
“U.S. citizens and LPRs have been victims of kidnapping in previous years.”
Acapulco, while still a popular tourist area, was ranked as the 7th Deadliest City in the world as recently as 2019.
