Well, we all knew this day was coming and it has finally arrived.
Biden has officially given the order to assemble a commission that will take a look at whether or not the Supreme Court should be expanded, among other possible changes.
The commission is being touted as a bipartisan 36-member panel.
Pack the Court
Personally, I cannot wait to see all the names revealed because I have a feeling the Republicans named will all be left of center on this issue.
Either that, or they will be grossly outnumbered, and their input will be dismissed when given.
The joint chairs of the commission will be New York University School of Law professor Bob Bauer, the former White House Counsel under former President Barack Obama and Yale Law School Professor Cristina Rodriguez, a former Justice Department official and clerk to former Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
As we reported earlier, Karl Rove has already destroyed Bob Bauer as a “political hack,” and he expects this will be nothing more than a commission to push the agenda of the far left rather than a legitimate commission that will truly investigate the issues at hand.
If the commission supports adding new justices to the court, Biden will face considerable scrutiny from his past statements on this issue.
For instance, in 1983, the idea of adding members to the court was brought up and Biden called it a “bonehead idea.”
During the presidential election, when Biden was asked about this particular issue, he stated, “It’s not about court packing.
“There’s a number of other things that our constitutional scholars have debated, and I’ve looked to see what recommendations that commission might make. … There’s a number of alternatives that go well beyond packing.”
As I stated earlier today, I believe the findings of the commission have already been made, and this is nothing but a show the administration wants to put on to add legitimacy to a decision it has already made on this issue.
