When you lead the charge to keep teachers out of the classroom, one would think that person’s child would be learning virtually.
That, however, is not the case for Berkeley Federation of Teachers president Matt Meyer.
Meyer was caught dropping his daughter off at a private school for in-person learning.
Do As I Say…
While Meyer has been telling parents it is unsafe for their kids to go to school right now, he is shipping his 2-year-old daughter off to the classroom…
Meet Matt Meyer. White man with dreads and president of the local teachers' union. He's been saying it is unsafe for *your kid* to be back at school, all the while dropping his kid off at private school:https://t.co/BAIR5xH8LY#OpenSchoolsNow

Meyer tried to defend himself, stating that there are “no public options for kids her age.”
That doesn’t matter, though, because if schools are not safe, they are not safe whether they are private or public!
Meyer added, “There are major differences in running a small preschool and a 10,000 student public school district in terms of size, facilities, public health guidance and services that legally have to be provided.
“We all want a safe return to school. The Berkeley Federation of Teachers is excited that Berkeley Unified will be reopening soon with a plan, supported by our members and the district, to get our students back in classrooms starting later this month.”
Every study we have seen shows that kids can go back as long as precautions are made.
This ridiculousness needs to end.
Open the schools, push the teachers to the front of the vaccine line, whatever it takes, but get these kids back into school before more damage is done to their lives.
