California House Passes State Senator Wiener’s SB-145

I have seen a lot of crazy things over the last few years but have to admit I never thought I would see the day when a bill was passed that would somehow make it okay for a 24-year-old man or woman to have sex with a 14-year-old boy or girl of the same sex.

That, however, is what can happen if the judge deems a consensual “relationship” took place.

SB-145 was introduced by California State Senator Scott Wiener and has passed both the state Senate and Assembly, and it will soon be headed to the desk of Governor Gavin Newsom, where it is expected to pass.

This is a very complicated issue, so I urge you to stick with me for the entire explanation.

Currently, if a 19-year-old has a boy has girlfriend that is 17 in a heterosexual relationship, it would be considered statutory rape.

If the case goes before a judge, however, the judge has the ability to not have that individual put on the sex offender registry.

The way the law is written now, that same relationship between a gay couple would result in the person’s name being added to the sex offender registry.

State Senator Wiener, who introduced the bill, says his goal was to make the law equal for both the heterosexual community and the LGBTQ+ community.

SB-145 will now offer the same option for judges in cases involving members of the LGBTQ+ communities, with age restrictions between 14 and 24… so I know you see where I am going with this.

In the effort of fairness for a piece of legislation I do NOT support, this is State Senator Wiener explaining the piece of legislation…

Below is State Rep. Lorena Gonzalez (D), who more or less had my reaction when I first heard about this bill…

Wiener, by the way, happens to be the same individual that put forth a bill that lowered the criminal penalty from a felony to a misdemeanor for someone that knowingly transmitted HIV to their partner that was unaware he or she had HIV at the time of intercourse.

The only thing that comes to mind for me right now is that if California still wants to secede from the Republic, please let the state go.

Reminder: Republicans introduced an amendment to keep Biden’s new IRS enforcers from targeting the middle class.

Democrats OPPOSED it!

Earlier this year, Biden effectively raised taxes on tipped workers in Nevada.

Last week, Catherine Cortez Masto voted to send 87,000 IRS enforcers after them.
