On Monday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that it would be renewing Title 42.
This is a Trump-era program that started in March 2020 as the pandemic was really ramping up in this country.
The CDC stated that the policy would remain in effect until the agency “determines that the danger of further introduction of COVID-19 into the United States from covered noncitizens has ceased to be a serious danger to public health.”
Title 42, for those of you unfamiliar, allows the United States to expel individuals coming from a country where a communicable disease was present, which would obviously include COVID.
Even though Title 42 remains active, per our earlier report, the Biden administration is still releasing COVID-positive illegals into the interior of the country.
However, just the fact that Title 42 has been renewed has set liberal groups over the edge.
ACLU attorney Lee Gelernt stated, “Seven months of waiting for the Biden administration to end Title 42 is more than enough.”
Neela Chakravartula, managing attorney for the Center for Gender & Refugee Studies, added, “We are deeply disappointed that the Biden administration has abandoned its promise of fair and humane treatment for families seeking safety, leaving us no choice but to resume litigation.”
