There is no break in the violence in Chicago just because it is a holiday weekend.
While most communities are hosting Easter Egg hunts and attending Easter weekend services, Chicagoans are dodging bullets.
As of Sunday morning, local reports stated that 19 people had already been shot, with at least one fatality.
Blood in the Streets
The fatality reportedly occurred during an argument between three individuals.
After heated words were exchanged, one man reportedly pulled a weapon and opened fire.
The deceased, a 31-year-old man, was fired upon 14 times by the assailant.
Homicides Are Up
Remember when people like Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said violence would go down once Trump left office?
Well, that was once again, fake news!
The violence in Chicago has actually gone up and gone up significantly.
By the end of March, there were 134 people murdered in the city of Chicago, a rise of 28 people, which is an increase of more than 26 percent over 2020.
Keep in mind, this time last year, the pandemic was only just starting, so there should have been significantly more deaths over the same period last year than this year.
With summer coming and restrictions being lifted, we cannot even begin to fathom what the likely number will be by the end of this year.
