Joe Biden has been tone-deaf to the American people throughout his time in office.
The latest example is Biden’s trip to Nantucket for Thanksgiving.
Former ethics boss Walter Schaub is calling Biden out for the trip, demanding more transparency from a man that has been engulfed in ethics violations since taking office.
On Wednesday, Joe Biden flew to Nantucket for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Biden is reportedly staying at the home of David Rubenstein, a co-founder of the Carlyle Group.
Joe Biden is now hobnobbing with billionaires while the average American is shelling out an extra 14 percent for their holiday meal.
Schaub, who served as the US Office of Government Ethics Director, says Biden needs to immediately clear up how this trip is being funded to avoid ethics complaints…
Just a friendly reminder, @WhiteHouse, that @potus will have to pay fair market value for the stay on Nantucket or disclose the gift of free lodging in his annual disclosure in May 2022. I’m not suggesting he wouldn’t, just reminding not to let it slip through the cracks./1

He added, “I’m not suggesting he wouldn’t, just reminding not to let it slip through the cracks.
“There’s a disclosure exception for personal hospitality, but that only applies if the head of the Carlyle Group is staying there with the Bidens.
“I suspect the WH is all over compliance with the rule — and oblivious to the ethical optics.”
Schaub may be giving Biden too much credit regarding the reporting, as Biden stayed with Rubenstein in 2014 but never disclosed the trip on his 2014 financial disclosure form.
Jeff Hauser, who runs the Revolving Door Project at the Center for Economic and Policy Research, also hit Biden for the trip…
Did former Carlyle partner Jerome Powell arrange this as a thank you gift????????????????????? https://t.co/ie10sFytln

Schaub also commented on his post, replying, “Look, Jeff. Who among us HASN’T spent a holiday at the beach house of the head of a gigantic multinational private equity, alternative asset management and financial services corporation while serving in high government office?”
When White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was challenged about the optics and timing of the trip, she responded, “This is a time to put politics aside, spend time with your loved ones and talk about what you’re grateful for.”
This from the woman that politicized every move Trump made during his presidency.
So, sorry, Jen, but you don’t get to make the rules here.
Dems set the bar from 2017 to 2021, literally putting everything on the table for criticism, so Biden needs to start answering questions about his fancy weekend away when he should be at the White House fixing the mess he has created in this country.
