In virtually every modern-day presidency, the outgoing president will issue policy rollbacks or implement new policies, which are referred to as “midnight rules.”
Bill Clinton did it, George Bush did it, and Barack Obama did.
Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), however, is now suddenly worried about Trump doing it and working to block any possible midnight rules that Trump would put in place.
As such, Nadler has issued a letter to the Office of Management and Budget stating, “We are concerned that these ‘midnight rules’ may be rushed through without providing Congress adequate time to review these rules, as required by law.
“These rules could include significant actions that have the potential to weaken air quality standards, lift protections for endangered species, jeopardize national security, or impose new immigration rules.”
The letter concluded, “We request that you immediately instruct agencies to avoid promulgating midnight rules.
“We also request that you ensure that before any rule is finalized between now and January 20, 2021, it meets all legal requirements, including a notice and comment process.”
Just one more act of obstruction by Democrats.
