DHS Secretary Chad Wolf Resigns After Assurances

We thought we were done with Trump officials abandoning ship, but there is another name to add to the list.

Chad Wolf, the current Acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary, has tendered his resignation.

Wolf had recently vowed to stay at his post until inauguration day, but something changed his mind this week and now he is gone.

Wolf OUT

Recent events at the Capitol definitely influenced Wolf’s decision, but that was far from the only thing that pushed Wolf out the door.

Democrats have continued to fight him every step of the way, with lawsuits still in the works that are challenging the validity of his authority.

Together, this was all working against Wolf at a time when his decisions simply cannot be questioned.

Wolf, in his resignation, stated, “I am saddened to take this step, as it was my intention to serve the Department until the end of this Administration.

“Unfortunately, this action is warranted by recent events, including the ongoing and meritless court rulings regarding the validity of my authority as Acting Secretary.

“These events and concerns increasingly serve to divert attention and resources away from the important work of the Department in this critical time of a transition of power.”

Inauguration Warnings

The decision by Wolf could actually be a major move to protect his own career.

The FBI reported that they have alerts for armed protests in almost every state in the country on inauguration day.

If all hell breaks loose even after the government knew about the threats, let’s just say whoever was in charge of DHS would probably never work again.

At this point, the Cabinet meeting table is just about bare, as only the most loyal of Trump’s appointments are remaining by his side as his presidency goes into its final week.
