Dr. Fauci has done it again, truly earning his new nickname of Dr. Doom.
As testing has increased, so have positive cases of COVID-19, but while more people are testing positive, the actual mortality rate of the virus is dropping significantly.
One would think this would be good news, but Dr. Fauci has called it a “false narrative,” offering up nothing more than a wet blanket for information most of us are taking as very positive.
Not There Yet
Throughout this pandemic, Dr. Fauci has been the voice of overwhelming caution and contradiction.
If you remember, Fauci was the one that said masks were ineffective in the early days of the pandemic.
At the time, Fauci never mentioned a shortage of PPE as the reason for his comments, but that is his story now to justify the mandated mask recommendation by the CDC.
Fauci now seems to have been swept up in the politics of the pandemic, seemingly almost disappointed that Americans are not dropping dead at an alarming rate.
That sentiment rang very true during a recent interview when Fauci was commenting on the lower mortality rates even though we are now seeing significantly more positive cases.
Fauci stated, “It’s a false narrative to take comfort in a lower rate of death.
“There’s so many other things that are very dangerous and bad about this virus.”
Fauci further warned the public not to “get yourself into false complacency.”
Were They Wrong All Along?
Early on, we had high death rates but that was also because most of the people getting tested earlier had symptoms or had been admitted to the hospital.
People like Fauci have been touting COVID-19 as much as 10 times deadlier than the common flu.
However, as more testing has been done, branching out well beyond those that have shown symptoms, we are seeing more and positive tests on asymptomatic individuals.
Additionally, many of the positive tests we are seeing are among younger people, most of whom are recovering.
While we clearly still have a problem, keeping the elderly segregated and protected seems to be working in terms of lowering the mortality rate.
From my seat, this means we are proving that we can do business as usual with some preventative modifications while we await a vaccine and treatment.
Now, I don’t know about you, but that seems like awfully good news to me… so why is Fauci downplaying these facts?
I think that is the question we all need to be asking ourselves right now.
