Hardcore Trump supporters will know the name of Jason Cabel Roe very well.
Roe took over as the Michigan GOP Director in February 2020.
He made the mistake of ruffling the wrong feathers after the election, saying that Trump “blew it,” and now he has resigned his position amid constant pressure from Trump supporters.
Trump Still Carries the Hammer
There is a lot of question within the Republican Party right now as to how much pull Trump still has.
The bigger question should be how much pull his supporters have because they clearly still outnumber the old guard in the Republican Party.
To that point, after the election, Roe upset a lot of Trump supporters with his comments.
After Trump “lost,” he stated, “Frankly, continuing to humor him merely excuses his role in this. The election wasn’t stolen. He blew it. Up until the final two weeks, he seemingly did everything possible to lose.
“Given how close it was, there is no one to blame but Trump.”
Roe has drawn the ire of Trump and the majority of his supporters, especially in Michigan.
The pressure against him has been so intense, he has finally caved and resigned his position.
Roe, upon resigning, stated, “I have resigned my position as executive director and the reasons will remain between me and Chairman [Ron] Weiser.
“We’ve built an amazing team and I know they will be very successful in 2022. I look forward to helping any way I can.”
It will be interesting to see if he still feels the same way if Trump decides to run again in 2024.
