We all know that masks have been politicized to no end during this pandemic.
Both sides are guilty, but I believe Democrats have done far worse than the GOP on this front, with Pelosi’s recent decision to force masks to be worn even by those that have been vaccinated as proof.
Well, House Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) was dealt a significant blow this week when the Office of the Attending Physician overruled her, stating that vaccinated members are now free to take off their masks.
Pelosi was using her rule to force the vaccination of Republicans who have resisted getting the needle.
Some of them are wary of the vaccine itself, while others have already had COVID and have antibodies, so they are also immune as long as they test positive for the antibodies.
There are surely Democrat members within this group, but Pelosi was just trying to embarrass House Republicans.
In all, 11 Republicans in the House have either been warned or fined regarding masks.
Overall, that percentage is very low, with the vaccination level at the Capitol having reached 85 percent, far ahead of the country’s average.
The new policy by the Attending Physician, however, makes Pelosi’s order moot.
Other rule changes are that members will no longer have to vote in groups and voting will only last 20 minutes.
House Republicans are already looking at this as a huge win and Pelosi surely has to feel as though she was slapped right across the face.
God forbid Congress acts with some semblance of common sense… that is just not in Pelosi’s playbook these days.
