A bizarre photo on social media has led to the takedown of one of the most prominent evangelicals in the country.
Jerry Falwell Jr. has been placed on indefinite leave by Liberty University after posting a picture on social media with a woman that was not his wife.
In the picture, both Falwell and the woman had their pants unzipped and bellies hanging out, and everyone just about lost their minds over it.
Falwell issued the obligatory apology after the outrage ensued as well as trying to explain how the photo came to be
He stated, “It was weird.
“She’s pregnant, so she couldn’t get her pants zipped.
“I had on a pair of jeans I hadn’t worn in a long time, so I couldn’t get mine zipped either.
“So, I just put my belly out like hers.”
The apology by Falwell was not enough for some, including people Falwell had supported in the past.
The most notable voice was Rep. Mark Walker (R-N.C.), who immediately called for his resignation.
Jerry Falwell Jr’s ongoing behavior is appalling.
As a Music Faculty Advisory Board Member and former instructor @LibertyU, I’m convinced Falwell should step down.
None of us are perfect, but students, faculty, alumni and @LUPraise deserve better.

Now, for some, the reaction may seem a bit over the top, but by Liberty’s own code of conduct, Falwell crossed the line.
While the door is still slightly cracked that he could come back, that seems very unlikely.
He has effectively been fired from his position, which will leave a gaping hole for Trump to fill in terms of high-profile evangelicals that support his campaign.
