Former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway has been out of the headlines for some time now, but she came back with a bang this week.
Conway recently interviewed with the media saying that she believed when all was settled, Biden and Harris will take office.
That came as a bit of a shock considering how loyal she has been to Trump, but that is hardly the only reason Conway is back in the headlines.
New Book, New Appointment
On Tuesday, a list of new appointments was published by the White House.
On that list was Kellyanne Conway, who is now going to be sitting on the Board of Visitors to the United States Air Force Academy.
This is not an appointment that is being received very well.
For instance, former Air Force Lieutenant Kathryn Smith stated that she was “really disappointed that the president has selected someone who doesn’t have the gravitas to deal with the really important issues with board should be dealing with.
“This isn’t a patronage kind of thing — this is a job where people are expected to do the work and to care.
“We’ve already been disappointed when members of Congress [who are also board members] don’t show up and don’t even send a staffer. I can’t imagine that Kellyanne Conway will show up to any meeting at the academy, or even the ones held in the D.C. area.”
Another story broke that has people really asking some hard questions about this appointment.
Conway reportedly landed a seven-figure book deal for a tell-all memoir about her time in the administration.
Trump’s critics are now hinting that this appointment is a way for Trump to get Conway to keep her mouth shut about negative stories in her book.
Others believe it is just a way for Trump to pay back Conway for her loyalty during her time in the administration.
One thing is for sure, however, and that is that this book will probably be the most anticipated book of any administration official to this point, largely due to the very weird dynamic of Conway’s husband being one of the most critical and loudest voices against Trump.
It also brings another concern to light… and that is that political service today seems to be more about setting yourself up to get rich after you leave your post than it is about serving the country.
I don’t knock anyone making a buck, but the money these people make for these books is utterly ludicrous and surely, intended or unintentional, influences decision making.
