The pressure being put on Justice Stephen Breyer to retire is growing considerably.
Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) is now saying that if Breyer is going to retire, it should be done “sooner rather than later.”
The failed presidential candidate is now among the growing army of Democrats putting Breyer’s feet to the fire so Joe Biden can put an uber-progressive on the Supreme Court before Democrats lose their advantage in the Senate.
Democrats are being very passive-aggressive with Breyer right now.
While the far-left is demanding that Breyer step down, some of the more high-profile Democrats are being a bit more subtle.
However, please make no mistake about it, they want Breyer gone so Joe can make his appointment.
With Senator McConnell (R-KY) making no bones about the fact Republicans will block an appointment during an election year if they win back the Senate, there is more urgency than ever to have Breyer retire.
That being the case, we are now hearing phrases like “for the good of the party” or “for the good of the court” being tossed around.
It may be more subtle, but there is still significant pressure being put on Breyer to step down.
In part, Klobuchar stated, “When you look at the court, he has to be concerned about the makeup and you have to be concerned about how you get a justice on the court with all the manipulation that Mitch McConnell has engaged in.
“So that would lead me to say, sooner rather than later, he makes his decision about if he’s going to retire.
“But if he’s going to retire, it should be sooner rather than later.”
