We have been railing about the liberal bail policies in New York for months.
Yet again, those policies have allowed a violent criminal free to do more harm.
In this case, a judge lowered bail so the defendant could afford to post it, and then he allegedly shot and killed an innocent man.
Alberto Ramirez is not your average teenager.
According to the report, he is an alleged gang member and had three gun charges pending.
Initially, he had been slapped with a $75,000 bail, but Acting New York Supreme Court Justice Denis Boyle lowered the bail to $10,000 cash or $25,000 bond.
His family was able to bail him out soon thereafter, but his time on the streets did not last long.
Ramirez wandered into a rival gang’s turf and allegedly opened fire into a crowd, hitting 34-year-old Eric Valesquez, an innocent man that just happened to be in the area at the time.
Now two young children will grow up without a father due to Boyle’s decision to lower bail.
This is what happens when you cater to criminals in the name of social justice as well as allowing politics to seep into our judiciary.
