A state senator in Michigan is vying to be elected as the Macomb County prosecuting attorney.
Knowing how unpopular Governor Gretchen Whitmer is these days, State Senator Peter Lucido (R-Shelby Township) has come up with a rather interesting campaign slogan.
If he wins, Lucido has vowed to bring charges against Governor Whitmer over her nursing home policy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cold-Blooded Killer
Early on during this pandemic, it became quite obvious that our elderly community, more specifically those in nursing and long-term care facilities, were most at risk.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released guidelines very early on regarding the care for our elderly.
Within those guidelines, it mandated that nursing homes needed to segregate cases of positive patients, including those being returned from hospitals after treatment.
Some states did not follow the CDC guidelines fully, such as New York, where for about three months positive elderly COVID-19 patients were being sent back to nursing homes without the ability to segregate from those infected.
For Michigan, though, the biggest problem seemed to be that nursing homes were unable to get the right equipment to care for residents.
Lucido stated, “What our governor has done is literally cold-blooded killed the most injured parties that are out there. The ones that have compromised immune systems—cold-blooded.
“Science and data do not support infecting healthy people who have to be protected at all costs.”
Lucido specifically called out Whitmer’s ability to provide proper equipment to these facilities because hospitals had “first dibs” on this equipment.
He told Whitmer to “swallow” her pride and to “get the goddamned sh*t fixed.”
Prosecute Her
Lucido, when asked if he would try to prosecute Whitmer over this policy, answered in the affirmative.
He stated, “Is this an intentional act that has been going on and perpetrated for negligence of death, meaning, governor, you are the only one to stop your own order.
“The legislature— you took away our control and said you have full power.”
He later added, “If we have the information that supports a conviction, which means I can look down at the data, which is not there, the science, which is not there, and have doctors come to testify to support that the medical decisions that were made here were made unilaterally by one person only — Gretchen Whitmer — you’re damn right he’s going to get charged because she deserves to own up to those deaths in those nursing homes.”
We can only hope he wins his election to test out his theory because it sure would be nice to see someone like Whitmer behind bars.
