Minneapolis Star Tribune Shuns Rep. Omar, Endorses Her Opponent

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has already been struggling in fundraising, but now she just got some really bad news.

The most prized endorsement in the entire state is going against her.

The Minnesota Star Tribune announced it is endorsing Omar’s opponent in the Democrat primary.

Sorry, Ilhan

Rep. Omar has more than a few controversies surrounding her, which was at the heart of the Star Tribune not backing her for this race.

The editorial board of the paper stated, “After careful consideration and interviews with both, the Star Tribune Editorial Board recommends Melton-Meaux, a first-time candidate with strong progressive values that align well with the district, as well as consensus-building skills honed as a professional mediator.”

The publication also ripped her for being more concerned about national headlines than her constituents, stating, “Whether it’s health care, criminal justice or affordable housing, Melton-Meaux appears progressive, but pragmatic.

“While Omar wants to lead a movement, Melton-Meaux seeks to serve the Fifth District.”

The nail in the coffin, however, seemed to be the many ethics problems Omar has had since taking office.

The publication wrote, “It is just these kinds of ethical distractions that the Fifth District could do without.

“In the Editorial Board interview, Omar took little responsibility for her rocky start, instead largely blaming her critics and saying her failing was perhaps in not realizing what a ‘special unicorn’ she would be in Congress.”

Money Problems

Omar has been getting crushed in the fundraising department, down about 4:1 to her opponent, Antone Melton-Meaux.

Her numbers are even worse in her district, as she has been able to raise almost no money locally.

This means the people that are going to be voting are simply not interested in her shenanigans any longer.

Her finances were so bad, House Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) tried to send Omar a lifeline of $14,000.

It is not helping Omar’s case that most of her campaign spending is being funneled to her new husband’s company.

A recent report stated that of the almost $800,000 she has recently spent, $600,000 of that went to her husband’s company.

Her campaign has reeked of corruption and anti-American sentiments from day one and unless something truly shocking happens, Omar will be a one-and-done congresswoman.
