College hoops and NBA fans woke up to some rather shocking news this morning.
Adreian Payne was reportedly shot dead early Monday morning.
Payne was a star player at Michigan State as well having played in the NBA for four seasons.
Shot Dead
The shooting occurred in a townhome community in Florida called Econ Landing.
Local outlets reported that Payne was shot dead around 1:30 a.m. on Monday.
When police arrived, the alleged shooter, Lawrence Dority, 29, was still at the scene.
Authorities stated that Dority was cooperating with the police in the shooting.
He has also been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
While playing for Michigan State, Payne was on two Big Ten tournament winners as well as being named Second Team All Big Ten during his last two seasons.
After being drafted number 15 overall by the Atlanta Hawks, Payne played for two more teams during his four-year stint in the NBA.
After leaving the NBA, he played several seasons overseas for three different teams.

You can’t run away from your past playing NBA ball, because the gangs, and crime will follow you…
Hope you are wrong!
I wonder if he was related to Cameron Payne who plays for the Phoenix Suns?
He allegedly died too.
Blacks killing other blacks. What else is new. The hood extends to wherever they are. Drugs, guns and basketball is their culture of preference.
Kudos to any black families that want to incorporate education into that mix.
