Critical race theory (CRT) has been a hotbed topic for more than two years now.
With Biden now in office, it has really come to the forefront, with Republicans protesting CRT and demanding it stopped being taught in schools and government offices.
Barack Obama crawled out from under his rock to throw a little more fuel on the fire, accusing Republicans and “right-wing media venues” for exploiting “fear and resentment” to divide the country.
Uhm, Other Way Around, Obama
In a nutshell, CRT pushes that this country was founded on white supremacy and pushes the idea that all white people are inherently racist.
Basically, it wants white people in this country to suffer from white guilt to make up for the wrongs done to African Americans when they first arrived in this country.
Conservatives are against the theory being taught for the simple truth that the premise is absurd and far more divisive regarding race relations than helpful.
An interracial couple recently commented that if CRT were true, then their children would be both oppressed and oppressors at the same time.
The theory itself is rooted in hate and promotes hate and disgust rather than a unifying narrative.
I do not know a single conservative who tries to dodge this country’s history in terms of racism.
Instead, we learn from the mistakes and continue to push forward, keeping everything in perspective, the opposite of what CRT wants to do.
Obama, who loves to push the race card, is now jumping on this narrative that the Republican Party is the party of fearmongering, and it is using that to deny CRT from being taught.
He stated, “You can be proud of this country and its traditions and its history and our forefathers … and it’s also true that this terrible stuff happened and the vestiges of that linger and continue.
“And the truth is that when I try to tell the story, oftentimes my political opponents would deliberately not only block that story but try to exploit it for their own political gain.”
He continued, “I also think that there are certain right-wing media venues, for example, that monetize and capitalize on stoking the fear and resentment of a White population that is witnessing a changing America and seeing demographic changes, and do everything they can to give people a sense that their way of life is threatened and that people are trying to take advantage of them. And you’re seeing it right now.”
Then he went after Republicans, stating, “You would think with all the public policy debates that are taking place right now, the Republican Party would be engaged in a significant debate about how are we going to deal with the economy, what are we going to do about climate change, what are we going to do about — lo and behold, the biggest single most important issue to them apparently right now is critical race theory.”
His thought process is flawed, however.
One of the biggest issues in this country right now IS the racial divide, so CRT is very prominent in that discussion, arguably just as important as the other issues mentioned by Obama.
We are capable of walking and chewing gum simultaneously, something of which Democrats are clearly not.
Obama had an amazing opportunity to unite this country when he was in office, but he instead chose to divide and continues to do so today.
