‘Operation Not Forgotten’ Rescues 39 Missing Children

Multiple federal, state, and local agencies have been working together on Operation Not Forgotten to save missing children in Georgia.

The operation was launched in August and only lasted two weeks, but the results were significant.

On Thursday, authorities announced they had rescued 26 children as well as the safe location of an additional 13 children.

Operation Not Forgotten

The operation was a joint effort between the United States Marshals Service Missing Child Unit (USMS), the Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), and both state and local agencies in Georgia.

In addition to rescuing the children, nine individuals were arrested in relation to the missing children.

A total of 26 warrants clear, which included 19 arrest warrants, those nine included.

Director of the Marshals Service Donald Washington stated, “The U.S. Marshals Service is fully committed to assisting federal, state, and local agencies with locating and recovering endangered missing children, in addition to their primary fugitive apprehension mission.

“The message to missing children and their families is that we will never stop looking for you.”

Challenging Cases

The operation was started to locate children that were involved in some of the most challenging missing persons cases in Georgia.

Darby Kirby, Chief of the Missing Child Unit, stated, “When we track down fugitives, it’s a good feeling to know that we’re putting the bad guy behind bars.

“But that sense of accomplishment is nothing compared to finding a missing child.

“It’s hard to put into words what we feel when we rescue a missing child, but I can tell you that this operation has impacted every single one of us out here.

“We are working to protect them and get them the help they need.”

The timing of the rescue could not be better for Trump, who only days ago was touted by Melania Trump as the president that is here to protect American families.

While this will score political points, the most important thing is that these children are now safe and, hopefully, the success of this operation will encourage similar operations around the country.
