House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) woke up to a nasty surprise courtesy of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
McCarthy has decided to stock Pelosi’s January 6 Select Committee with the five slots he has been granted.
One of them is sure to start some fireworks, with Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) being named to the committee.
Going to be Interesting
I have to admit, I am actually surprised that McCarthy is even going to take part in the commission.
But since he is, he could not have handpicked a better team and surely not a better leader for that team.
In addition to Jordan, Fox News reported that “Reps. Jim Banks of Indiana, Rodney Davis of Illinois, Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota and Troy Nehls of Texas” have all been named.
As far as Nancy Pelosi is concerned, McCarthy just put five Trump clones on the committee.
These five Republicans will join Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), who was appointed by Pelosi to ensure at least one Republican voted in favor of whatever outcome she already has in mind for the committee.
Banks, after being named to the committee, stated, “Make no mistake, Nancy Pelosi created this committee solely to malign conservatives and to justify the Left’s authoritarian agenda.
“Even then, I will do everything possible to give the American people the facts about the lead up to January 6, the riot that day, and the responses from Capitol leadership and the Biden administration.”
He added, “I will not allow this committee to be turned into a forum for condemning millions of Americans because of their political beliefs.”
For all intents and purposes, we might as well call this the Trump Impeachment 3.0 because that is how this will be run.
This is now Pelosi’s third attempt to try to block Trump from being able to run for president again in 2024.
It will fail, however, simply due to the makeup of the committee and the fact that Pelosi has rigged the outcome in her favor.
