I am honestly going to say I am shocked by this move by Pence.
He had made some headway back into the good graces of voters.
Not enough to run for president, but his profile had been raised to more favorable levels.
Then he made a HUGE mistake.
Oh No, Mikey…
Nobody wants to see agents physically attacked, but threats are being made.
I am sure that was Pence’s point, but it just did not come off like that.
The former VP stated, “We can hold the attorney general accountable for the decision that he made without attacking the rank-and-file law enforcement personnel at the FBI.
“The Republican Party is the party of law and order.
“Our party stands with the men and women who stand on the thin blue line on the federal and state and local level.”
He added, “And these attacks on the FBI must stop. Calls to defund the FBI are just as wrong as calls to defund the police.”
Quite a few people would not agree with that right now.
Local cops are a far cry from a federal government agency that has repeatedly been weaponized against Donald Trump, Republicans, and everyday conservatives.
Again, I have zero against the rank and file, save a few rogue agents, and I have plenty of friends that work in the FBI.
But, the fact is, leadership is failing them. If we keep cutting off the head of the snake and the snake continues to live on, then something has to be done.
There is a culture problem in the FBI, specifically from where its leaders are being picked, which goes right to the top of the food chain.
Defund the FBI? No, but maybe a complete audit, as well as a draining of leadership while also holding them accountable for the crimes they have committed, especially James Comey.
