Let them grow up…
That is the overwhelming sentiment among Americans right now.
With the Biden administration making a big push to allow transgender surgeries and anti-puberty blockers to minors, parents are saying this is just a bit too much.
Just Stop It
Most of us would probably agree that whatever you want to do with your life as an adult is on you.
If you want to don a wig, change your name, and throw on a dress, by all means, do it.
However, children are far too susceptible to suggestion, and I think we can all agree that a child of 10 is in no position to suddenly decide he is a she or she is a he.
A survey by the American Principles Project Foundation found that to be true among the majority of Americans.
Only 22 percent of those that responded felt opposition to gender transitioning for kids was transphobic.
An overwhelming majority, 63 percent, felt that children are far too young to make that decision.
The poll was conducted in key battleground states of Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and New Hampshire.
Sadly, Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine, a transgender, is pushing misinformation on this subject.
He/She claims “there is no argument among medical professionals – pediatricians, pediatric endocrinologists, adolescent medicine physicians, adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, etc. – about the value and the importance of gender-affirming care,” but that is simply not true.
Many doctors have come forward to Fox News to push back on that statement, but they are also hesitant to publicly come forward for the risk of being penalized or attacked.
Dr. Michael Laidlaw, however, has come forward, stating, “Central precocious puberty is a medical condition in which a child starts puberty at an abnormally young age, say age 4.
“Medications like Supprelin LA are used to stop this abnormal puberty.
“Then once the child reaches a typical age for puberty (say age 11 or 12), the medication is stopped, and then normal puberty will resume.”
He continued, “The off-label use of these medications for gender dysphoria is completely different.
“In this case the healthy child has already begun normal puberty. But then the medication is given to block normal puberty.
“Blocking normal puberty has numerous unhealthy side effects including loss of normal bone development, interference with normal brain and social development, and importantly causes infertility and sexual dysfunction. Many of these effects will be irreversible.”
Let the kids grow up. Allow them to develop. Let them make this decision as an adult rather than putting them through something many of them regret after the fact.
According to the NIH National Library of Medicine PubMed.Gov website, 82 percent of all transgender individuals have at least thought about suicide, with 40 percent admitting to attempting suicide.
Maybe, just maybe, there are issues far more relevant than transitioning that need to be addressed with these individuals.
