President Trump is clearly not going out with a whimper, but he also does not want this country to continue to rip itself apart.
With there being plenty of chatter about armed protests and attacks against Joe Biden on inauguration day, Trump is issuing an urgent message of non-violence to all Americans.
Ironically, since Trump is banned on social media, it will be much harder to get his message out.
Trump is hoping that we will have a peaceful transition of power come January 20.
However, the FBI has received warnings of the possibility of armed protests around the country on inauguration day.
Realizing inauguration day could make the riot at the Capitol seem tame, Trump is hoping he can get everyone to dial it down.
Trump stated, “In light of reports of more demonstrations, I urge that there must be NO violence, NO lawbreaking and NO vandalism of any kind.
“That is not what I stand for and it is not what America stands for.
“I call on ALL Americans to help ease tensions and calm tempers. Thank You.”
White House officials echoed this statement as well as asking big tech to help get the word out.
A Trump adviser told Fox News, “President Trump is asking all Americans to join with him in ensuring that there is an orderly and peaceful transition next week.
“President Trump is also asking that Big Tech companies join with him in this effort.
“This is a critical time in our nation’s history and surely we can all come together to deliver this important message and not continue to play partisan politics.”
RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel added, “Let me be clear: Anyone who has malicious intent is not welcome in Washington, D.C. or in any other state capitol.
“The peaceful transition of power is one of our nation’s founding principles and is necessary for our country to move forward.”
If they truly do not want violence to break out, I would also suggest that Democrats get on the same page here.
The only side of the fence I hear making an effort to quell the violence and outrage in this country right now is coming from the right.
We still have elected Democrats raging at the right, putting all conservatives in the same bucket as the rioters that took over the Capitol briefly last week.
If they truly want peace, now is the time to back down the rhetoric and extend an olive branch.
I truly think the people of this country are exhausted and sick and tired of being at each other’s throats, but that feeling will quickly subside if the attacks keep coming from elected officials that are supposed to represent We the People.
Democrats are all telling their story of how they were horrified and terrified for their lives last week, but they continue to spew the same rhetoric that brought everyone to the brink and was just as responsible for the rioting as any words Trump said.
If they truly fear an uprising of the same ilk again, why not dial it down, just for a moment, and see if the people of this country can figure out how to get along again?
