REPORT: 25 LA Sheriff Recruits Mowed Down by Errant Driver

An absolutely heartbreaking story has emerged out of California.

A large group of LA Sheriff recruits were doing a run early Wednesday when they were hit by a wrong-way driver.

According to reports, 25 of them are injured, several with critical and life-altering injuries.

Bodies Everywhere

The incident reportedly occurred around 6:30 a.m. local time in Los Angeles County.

The training center is nearby, which is why the recruits were running in that area.

An unnamed 22-year-old driver veered into the opposite lane on Whittier and plowed right through the group of recruits.

Five recruits suffered critical wounds, including broken bones, amputations, and head trauma.

Four suffered moderate wounds and 16 suffered minor injuries.

The driver was reportedly traveling about 30 to 40 mph when he drove into the group.

As bad as this was, it could have been far worse, as there were a total of about 75 recruits in the group at the time of the incident.

The only thing that stopped this from being worse was that the driver reportedly hit a light pole, which stopped the car dead in its tracks.

The vehicle’s driver underwent a sobriety test, which returned negative.

Authorities stated that he has been cooperating and is in custody now.

They still have no cause as to why he veered so hard into the group.
