One of President Trump’s biggest financial supporters has passed away.
Sheldon Adelson, a fellow billionaire and casino owner, has died at the age of 87.
Adelson succumbed to his long-time battle against cancer.
The Billionaire’s Club
Adelson was one of those names that would pop up from time to time throughout the Trump presidency because of the influence of the billionaire.
He and Trump were select members of the casino owners club, only Adelson managed to get to where Trump never ventured… Las Vegas.
Adelson was the founder of the Las Vegas Sands Corp. as well as having his hands in dozens of other businesses.
In addition to his casino business, Adelson also owned the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
In 2019, Adelson was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Not long after his diagnosis, he stepped away from the company to concentrate on his treatment of the disease.
After his passing, the Las Vegas Sands stated, “Mr. Adelson was the first employee of Las Vegas Sands – ‘Team Member Number One’ he liked to say. Today, more than 50,000 Sands team members have Dr. Adelson and the entire Adelson family in their thoughts and prayers and are grateful to have had their lives touched by a true force of nature.”
Huge Financial Supporters
This is a personal loss for Trump, who had become very good friends with Adelson.
In a prepared statement, President Trump and the First Lady stated, “Sheldon lived the true American dream.
“His ingenuity, genius, and creativity earned him immense wealth, but his character and philanthropic generosity his great name…”
This is also a massive loss for the Republican party, as Adelson has donated $430 million to conservative candidates during the 2020 campaign season alone.
Rest in peace, Mr. Adelson.
