When Trump was in office, a total of 450 miles of border wall had been completed.
This was a mix of new border wall and replacing old fencing in other areas.
An additional 350 miles of border wall had already been funded, but that wall will not be built thanks to the latest move by Joe Biden.
As soon as Joe Biden moved into the White House, one of the first things he did was halt all border wall construction.
The move, at the time, was being questioned legally, but Biden has now taken it a step further.
This week, the Pentagon announced that the funding reallocated to finance the border wall was no longer available for that purpose.
The Pentagon, on Friday, announced, “Consistent with the President’s proclamation, the Department of Defense is proceeding with canceling all border barrier construction projects paid for with funds originally intended for other military missions and functions such as schools for military children, overseas military construction projects in partner nations, and the National Guard and Reserve equipment account.
“DoD [Department of Defense] has begun taking all necessary actions to cancel border barrier projects and to coordinate with interagency partners.
“Today’s action reflects this administration’s continued commitment to defending our nation and supporting our service members and their families.”
The money will now be used to fund military construction projects deferred due to the reallocation of funds.
Trump has been adamant that Biden’s border policies will destroy this country, and leaving hundreds of miles of borders unprotected would seem to back that up.
Joe Biden seems intent on making illegal immigration as easy and accessible as possible.
I would fully expect Trump and his roster of MAGA candidates to specifically exploit this policy during both the 2022 and 2024 elections.
