Democrats may have won the latest battle against Donald Trump, but they have not yet won this war.
Several days ago, it was announced that the DOJ ruled the Treasury must turn over Trump’s tax returns to the congressional committees having requested them.
Trump was obviously not happy about this, and his attorney is now digging in, threatening more legal action.
Not Over Yet
Democrats have zero proof that Trump did anything wrong.
Even so, they want Trump’s tax returns to try to stir something up.
Merrick Garland has thrown reason out the window and caved to the House Ways and Means Committee request.
The request was exploratory in nature from the outset and just another way for Democrats to try to get Trump’s tax returns released publicly, something Trump has not been willing to do, nor is he legally required to do by law.
Trump attorney Ronald Fischetti stated, “There is no evidence of any wrongdoing here, and I object to the release of the returns not only on behalf of my client but on behalf of all future holders of the office of the president of the United States.”
House Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) celebrated the decision, stating, “Access to former President Trump’s tax returns is a matter of national security.
“The American people deserve to know the facts of his conflicts of interest and undermining of our security and democracy as president.”
Her statement, of course, more than likely refers to the Democrat desire to link Donald Trump to the Russian government somehow to revive allegations of collusion just in case he decides to run again.
There is little doubt that if these tax returns are given to Congress, they will be leaked to the media and published.
