During the early stages of this pandemic, President Trump made a major mistake by trying to put a positive spin on things.
Rather than projecting gloom and doom, he felt he needed to be the upbeat person.
The media used that against him, and he paid a dear price for it.
Trump does not appear to be willing to make that same mistake, already bracing Americans for the inevitable second wave that will hit this fall.
After renewing the daily COVID-19 briefings, Trump stated, “It will probably, unfortunately, get worse before it gets better.
“Something I don’t like saying about things, but that’s the way it is.”
Trump also pushed the use of masks, stating, “We’re asking everybody that when you are not able to socially distance, wear a mask, get a mask.
“Whether you like the mask or not, they have an impact, they’ll have an effect, and we need everything we can get.”
"If you can, use the mask," Pres. Trump says to help slow the spread of the coronavirus. "If you're in a group, I would put it on…I have no problem with the masks." pic.twitter.com/CSNxA89qmD

This is the exact message Trump needs to be hitting Americans with because it will get worse before it gets better.
Americans need to brace for what is coming but that does not necessarily mean we shut back down again.
By knowing what is coming, we prepare and do our best to operate as normally as possible while following health guidelines.
This shows a clear pivot by Trump, proving he has far from given up on winning the upcoming election.
