There is a lot of speculation about whether Trump will run in 2024 or not.
With that speculation, the media is putting top Republicans on the spot if they will support Trump if he runs.
When Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) was asked, she did not hesitate for a second to say “no,” and now Trump has given her an earful.
Cheney recently appeared on Fox News with Neil Cavuto regarding the possibility of Trump running again.
She responded, “Well, look, Neil, I’ve been very clear about my views about what happened on January 6th, about my views of the president’s culpability, I obviously voted to impeach him, I think that it was the gravest violation of an oath of office by any president in American history.”
“I think for us as a party, we’ve got to be the party of hope and aspiration, and we cannot embrace insurrection, we can’t minimize what happened on January 6th, and I think that all of us regardless of partisanship, have an obligation and a duty to the Constitution.”
Cavuto then put her on the spot, asking, “If Donald Trump were the 2024 nominee, would you support him?”
Without pause, she stated, “I would not.”

Trump has made no bones about the fact he will try to unseat Cheney in 2022 even though she has the full backing of the GOP at this point.
After hearing Cheney’s comments, Trump stated, “[S]o many people many people are looking to run against Crazy Liz Cheney — but we only want one.
“She is so far down in Wyoming polls that the only way she can win is numerous candidates running against her and splitting the vote.
“Hopefully, that won’t happen. I’ll make an Endorsement soon!”
I would suspect that Trump will work out some type of deal with candidates to ensure that his candidate of choice runs heads up against Cheney to see if she can be unseated.
This is not going to be an easy fight, however, as money is pouring in for Cheney right now.
In fact, in the first quarter, she set a record for her campaign contributions.
Now, this could be outside money and not necessarily reflective of the voters in the state, but money is a significant factor in predicting the outcome of an election.
As I stated before, there are certain key races that will give us a real insight into just how much power Donald Trump continues to wield in the party, and this will surely be one of them.
