Last week, the Washington Post ran an article to fact-check Trump’s claim about the most violent cities in this country being run by Democrats.
The Washington Post determined that Trump had said an untruth, but it based its findings on the idea that ONLY 17 out of 20 of the most violent cities in this country were run by Democrats.
One city has a Republican mayor and two cities have Independent mayors, which was enough for this publication to determine Trump was spreading fake news.
By the Numbers
The really funny thing about all of this is that the Washington Post journalist who penned this article, Philip Bump, and the editors, did not realize they were making Trump’s case for him.
They based their fact-check on the idea that three cities out of 20 were not run by Democrats but they neglect to look at the overall picture and idea of what Trump said.
The violence in Democrat cities is staggering, with all of the top 10 being run by Democrats.
You won’t see a Republican in the picture until you get to #16, and that is the sole Republican mayor on the list.
Even if you break the violent crime down per capita, Democrats still have 19 out of the top 20 most violent cities in the country, with the sole outlier being Springfield, MO, which has an independent mayor.
This is the graphic the Washington Post used to make its case against Trump…

Shrugging off the Numbers
To see how biased the writing is in this piece, look no further than the summary by the author.
Rather than saying the idea of what Trump said was true or that Trump got this mostly right, Bump decided to take Trump’s statement word-for-word to prove him wrong.
Bump wrote, “Trump would no doubt shrug at that detail, decrying as ‘fake news’ the revelation that his assertion was only slightly wrong. And, in fairness, it actually doesn’t matter that four of the 32 cities listed above have non-Democratic mayors — because it doesn’t really matter that the other mayors are Democrats.”
The writer is completely missing the overall point and declaring victory over Trump when the numbers are very clear that virtually every city that is riddled with violent crime is run by a Democrat.
This is just a glaring reality that we have to live with every day in this country.
Joe Biden can literally say and do just about whatever he wants, and most of the media will never challenge a word he says.
When fact-checks are done against Biden, he fails miserably, as we saw this past week when CNN took the time to research statements made by Biden over the last month or so to find seven false narratives he is pushing.
Even so, Biden is rarely openly challenged for misleading or false statements he makes by the media when they get him in a one-on-one situation.
Today’s media is guilty of the worst violation possible, and this is creating a narrative before the story is written rather than allowing the facts of the investigation to dictate the narrative.
