President Trump and his campaign have been on a bit of a roller coaster ride as of late in Michigan.
The latest news, however, is very good for Trump, and it will keep his hopes of turning this election around alive for a bit longer.
After agreeing to certify the election results in Wayne County, GOP officials have since rescinded.
We Were Bullied
Initially, GOP officials had refused to certify the election due to hundreds of pages of affidavits citing voting irregularities in the county.
Democrats did not even try to hide their efforts of intimidation, with Rep. Tlaib (D-MI) openly accusing GOP officials of being racist for refusing to certify the results.
There were also several reports, including a report from Fox News’ Shannon Bream, that GOP officials were being both pressured and threatened to certify the election.
GOP officials, early yesterday, stated that they would vote to certify, but now they have backtracked again.
This time, however, they cited the bullying that had been reported as their reason for initially saying they would certify the election results.
William C. Hartmann stated, “I voted not to certify, and I still believe this vote should not be certified. Until these questions are addressed, I remain opposed to certification of the Wayne County results.
He and Monica Palmer are the two Republicans in question that are now refusing to certify the results.
Palmer also stated that she was facing “accusations of racism” as well as threats to her family.
She stated, “After the vote, my Democratic colleagues chided me and Mr. Hartmann for voting not to certify.
“After the vote, the public comment period began and dozens of people made personal remarks against me and Mr. Hartmann.
“The comments made accusations of racism and threatened me and members of my family.
“The public comment continued for over two hours and I felt pressured to continue the meeting without a break.”
Due to the election now not being certified until these instances are investigated, the Trump campaign has withdrawn its lawsuit, stating, “This morning we are withdrawing our lawsuit in Michigan as a direct result of achieving the relief we sought: to stop the election in Wayne County from being prematurely certified before residents can be assured that every legal vote has been counted and every illegal vote has not been counted.”
Now, hopefully, the election results will be fully investigated to ensure all LEGAL votes are counted.
